Before I begin training, I warm up for about ten minutes.

Pub crawl = To go from pub to pub and drink heavily
March 17th is St. Patrick's day in America. Most Americans go on a pub crawl to celebrate.
To miss the boat = To miss a chance
I had a chance to buy a cheep p.c. But I waited too long and someone else bought it. I missed the boat.
To take time off = To be absent from work for a short while
Every once in a while, I take time off to go shopping.
Driving rain = Very hard and heavy rain usually accompanied by strong wind
My umbrella was broken in the driving rain.
To shine it on = Forget about it. Not to worry about something.
If I have some trouble, I simply shine it on and start a new day.
To put a person wise = New York slang. To inform someone to avoid trouble.
Let me put you wise. If you drink too much, you will regret it the next day.
